Communications

I am currently in negotiations with Rogers Wireless. Their service out here is TERRIBLE. If I want to make a call, I have to walk out to the road to get a reliable signal. If the breeze blows the wrong way, the signal drops. Also, they have the “Edge” or GSM service out here. We are paying for “3G” or “4G” which seems only to be available in the bigger cities. Bell, on the other hand, has the higher speed service everywhere. HMMMM.. This all started when my iPhone died a premature death. The repplacement phone they sent me, a Motorola Quench, was “quenched” –that is to say–died– after all of 3 days usage! I can’t be that hard on phones, can I?

  1. In regards to Rogers, last year, an update. I sent the dead replacement phone back for a refund. I told Rogers I wanted to cancel my service because I wasn’t getting the service I should be getting. At first they hummed and hawed, saying they might let me off for free. After a couple more phone calls–every time having to explain my situation over again, I was finally told they would be happy to let me go, for a mere $860.00 if you please.
I got mad and told them this was Highway Robbery.
I was transferred to a “Customer Service Specialist” whose job it was to keep me as a customer.
After about 20 minutes of negotiating, she had reduced out $160 per month for two phones and poor service, to $36 per month till the end of our contract, in Spring of 2013. Well, four months and a bit away. I have had a couple of Rogers phones to fit my Sim Card, but for the most part, I am not really missing the phone all that much. We hardly ever need it. It is call forwarded to our landline phone. The only time that was an inconvenience was when we were travelling to BC this summer and people were trying to call our mobile phones.
